Low Carb Snacks, Sugar Free Snacks

Sugar Free Jelly Belly Jelly BeansThe late President Ronald Reagan was said to be fond of jelly beans. Maybe their wonderful sticky fruit flavor gave him the strength to tell Mr. Gorbachev to tear down that wall. Well now we can eat like Presidents without the worry of high blood glucose and tooth decay. Sugar Free Jelly Belly Jelly Beans are great sugar free snacks. Their packaging claims a forty percent reduction in calories over the traditional Jelly Belly jelly beans, but there’s no mention of the fact that they are every bit as delicious.

The jelly beans are actually somewhat smaller than the traditional jelly bean, but this was fine with us because it really gives you a chance to combine a lot of flavors without looking like a squirrel. Each bag contains an assortment of flavors including Buttered Popcorn, Cherry, Green Apple, Juicy Pear, Lemon, Licorice, Pineapple, Sizzling Cinnamon, Strawberry, and Tangerine. If you’ve always loved jelly beans like we have, then we give Sugar Free Jelly Belly Jelly Beans our highest recommendation.

Low Carb Snacks, Sugar Free Snacks

Sugar Free LifeSavers Butter Toffee Hard CandyIf making sugar free candy was an Olympic sport then Wrigley would certainly be a medal winner. We had the pleasure of trying out their Sugar Free LifeSavers Butter Toffee Hard Candy and were totally impressed. They come individually wrapped, and taste somewhat like Werther’s Originals, except slightly sweeter. The best way to describe the experience is “smooth”. These candies are thin and become quite slippery as they dissolve, so they might be better reserved to adults than children. Though there’s nothing flashy about Sugar Free LifeSavers Butter Toffee Hard Candy, these candies are a good, solid sugar free snack and worthy of the Wrigley LifeSavers brand name.

The serving size for Sugar Free LifeSavers Butter Toffee Hard Candy is five candies. Each serving contains only 45 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 95mg of sodium, 5mg of cholesterol, and about 7 grams of digestible carbohydrate in the form of sugar alcohols. All the usual warnings about consuming no more than the suggested serving size apply. Give these candies a try – we think you’ll appreciate their solid value!

Sugar Free Dove Rich Dark Chocolates With Chocolate CremeWe are so grateful to the folks over at candyaddict.com for turning us on to Sugar Free Dove Chocolates. Their excellent review left us hungry to try one of the flavors ourselves. We’re glad to report that our experience with Sugar Free Dove Rich Dark Chocolates With Chocolate Creme was fantastic!

These sugar free snacks have a deep, rich chocolate taste. The crisp outer shell and slightly softer creme filling provide a perfect compliment to one another. The texture is creamy and the satisfaction seems to build as the flavors blend in your mouth to leave you with one of the most pleasant dark chocolate experiences you will ever have. These chocolates are also very filling. Their richness and lasting flavor kept us from needing more than two candies at a time, which is less than half the recommended serving size. We’re very happy to recommend these chocolates.

Strawberry Powerade Zero

Low Carb Drinks, Sugar Free Drinks

Strawberry Powerade ZeroTwenty yards from your car to the building – check. Two flights of stairs to your floor – check. Twenty steps to your cube – check. Sweating profusely and sucking more air than a Pratt & Whitney at full throttle – check. You need something to quench your building thirst and quick! May we suggest a strawberry flavored Powerade Zero. If you don’t think this sports drink will do the trick just read the announcement wrapping the shoulder of the bottle:

“Attention! You are now in control of a Zero Calorie Sports Drink + B-Vitamins. Be advised that you may be swarmed by fans who want to witness the power of electrolytes, hydration, and zero calories. Good luck with that.”

How can you go wrong with an awesome ninja beverage like that? Seriously folks, we were quite pleased with strawberry Powerade Zero. The flavor was light and smooth. The thirst quenching quality was high. Some sports drinks leave you wishing you had just had some water instead, but not Powerade Zero. The only complaint we really had is that the flavor is a little too light, and the strawberry seems a little washed out. We’re really interested in trying the mixed berry and grape flavors to see if they’re a little stronger.
