Sugar Free Snacks

Murray Sugar Free Fudge Dipped Vanilla WafersMurray Sugar Free Fudge Dipped Vanilla Wafers have to be one of the tastiest sugar free snacks we’ve reviewed to date. As we’ll see, this comes with a price. Each wafer is about 2.75 inches long and 0.75 inches square, and weighs about 7.75 grams. Not huge by any stretch of the imagination, and given the extraordinary taste, quite a temptation to overindulge in! These sugar free snacks are simple and elegant at the same time. The combination of a crisp, sweet vanilla wafer and a rich, heavy chocolate fudge shell make these a tasty snack or dessert. Just resist the urge to make them a meal!

The cost we spoke of earlier is the amount of saturated fat in each serving - 7 grams! Weighing in at 150 calories doesn’t lighten the load any either, literally or figuratively. Did we mention how great these things taste? Each serving gets you 10 grams of fat, 20mg of sodium, and about 11 grams of digestible carbohydrate. Murray Sugar Free Fudge Dipped Vanilla Wafers are sweetened with acesulfame potassium, Splenda, and 9 grams of sugar alcohol, so definitely do not consume more than the recommended serving size. These sugar free snacks are excellent for an occasional treat, but probably not a good staple snack.

Sugar Free Jolly Rancher Hard Candy

Sugar Free Jolly Rancher Hard CandySugar Free Jolly Rancher Hard Candy is one of the best sugar free snacks we’ve reviewed here at glucoholic.com. Hershey’s sugar free version of the extremely popular Jolly Rancher brand is an excellent addition to their sugar free lineup, with a burst of fruit flavor that rivals it’s sweet cousin’s.

Our friends over at candyaddict.com have a rundown of the original Jolly Rancher flavors. We were pleased to see that the four flavors of the sugar free version were not a great departure from the five of the original Jolly Ranchers. The sugar free version loses a cherry flavor and replaces blue raspberry with plain raspberry. Each of the four tasted wonderful and sweet. Sugar Free Jolly Ranchers are definitely going on The Glucoholic’s preferred sugar free snacks list, and we highly recommend it.

Brach’s Sugar Free Gummi Fruits

Sugar Free Snacks

Brach’s Sugar Free Gummi FruitsColor him stupid, but when The Glucoholic really likes a product as much as he did the Brach’s Sugar Free Star Brites he tends to look for other products sold by the same producer. He didn’t have to look far before he found Brach’s Sugar Free Gummi Fruits. There seems to be no end to the “gummification” trend these days. We’ve got gummi bears, gummi worms, gummi narwhals - uh, I think that last one is only in development. It stands to reason that we should also have something sugar free to chew on in the gummi family.

Brach’s Sugar Free Gummi Fruits do the job nicely. They come in apple, cherry, grape, lemon, and orange flavors. Most of the flavors are a reasonable reminder of their natural counterparts, and they’re formed in the shape of their real life partners as well. They are not individually wrapped, but most other gummi treats aren’t. The candies are very chewy and sweet. They are a great sugar free snack and an entertaining novelty to boot!

Sugar Free Snacks

Sugar Free Brach’s Star BritesStar Brites are without a doubt one of the most popular candies of all time. Anywhere that a mint or piece of hard candy is appropriate you are apt to find these workhorse treats. From restaurant checkout counters to trick or treat bowls these candies are consumed by the millions. The Glucoholic is ashamed to admit that he had never noticed that they had such a sparkly name until he ran across the sugar free version of this classic snack. No matter what the name, this mint is a great addition to the arsenal of sugar free snacks we can use to replace familiar tastes with something more healthy.

Sugar Free Brach’s Star Brites are a perfect replica of Brach’s original peppermint mint. They are identical in taste and strength without all the extra sugar. The little red sections dissolve faster and leave you with a candy you can whistle through, just like the original! The minty flavor leaves your mouth tingling and your breath fresh, so we highly recommend keeping a couple on your person so that you have some to pop open and enjoy when you finish a meal, but without all the guilt.

Creme Savers Sugar Free Strawberry and Creme

Creme Savers Sugar Free Strawberry and CremeThe folks at Wrigley’s appear to be getting the message. People want more sugar free snacks. We had the pleasure of reviewing Wrigley’s Creme Savers Sugar Free Strawberry & Creme hard candies recently, and we highly recommend them. From the moment you pop these little treats in your mouth you feel like you are eating a thousand calorie dessert. The blending of strawberry and creme is wonderful, and a bit creamier than average, giving the candy a heavier feeling that is very satisfying.

The candies come individually wrapped. Serving size is five candies, but we seriously doubt you will need five to feel satisfied. Each serving contains 45 calories, 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 35mg of sodium, and about 7 grams of digestible carbohydrate. The product does have quite a bit of sugar alcohol, so the usual laxative effect warning is applicable.
