Strawberry Powerade Zero

Low Carb Drinks, Sugar Free Drinks

Strawberry Powerade ZeroTwenty yards from your car to the building - check. Two flights of stairs to your floor - check. Twenty steps to your cube - check. Sweating profusely and sucking more air than a Pratt & Whitney at full throttle - check. You need something to quench your building thirst and quick! May we suggest a strawberry flavored Powerade Zero. If you don’t think this sports drink will do the trick just read the announcement wrapping the shoulder of the bottle:

“Attention! You are now in control of a Zero Calorie Sports Drink + B-Vitamins. Be advised that you may be swarmed by fans who want to witness the power of electrolytes, hydration, and zero calories. Good luck with that.”

How can you go wrong with an awesome ninja beverage like that? Seriously folks, we were quite pleased with strawberry Powerade Zero. The flavor was light and smooth. The thirst quenching quality was high. Some sports drinks leave you wishing you had just had some water instead, but not Powerade Zero. The only complaint we really had is that the flavor is a little too light, and the strawberry seems a little washed out. We’re really interested in trying the mixed berry and grape flavors to see if they’re a little stronger.

Arizona Diet Peach Tea

Low Carb Drinks, Sugar Free Drinks

Arizona Diet Peach TeaOnce upon a time, in his less diabetic days, The Glucoholic became quite fond of Arizona flavored teas. This was no easy accomplishment for Arizona. Mind you, The Glucoholic was reared in the south where we all know that tea must be brewed boiling hot in a large pot and enriched with a bucket of sugar before being poured over eager ice cubes just waiting to cool it down. The crackling sound is the most heavenly sound of summer. You can imagine being confronted with a “tea” that comes in a bottle or can, that has something other than lemon added, and that survives warm climates for weeks and months on end. This can’t be tea can it? Thankfully, Arizona teas turned out to be quite tasty, and were a greatly missed treat for The Glucoholic - until now.

Arizona Diet Peach Tea is fantastic! Splenda helps to boost the sweetness of this black tea blend. The addition of peach juice is pleasing, and does not drown out the tea’s flavor. The sweetness is perfect, and does not leave you feeling like you just swallowed a tablespoon of corn syrup like some other beverages do. This gem is going on the list of staple sugar free drinks around here! We highly recommend giving Arizona Diet Peach Tea a try.

Low Carb Snacks

Russell Stover Net Carb Chocolate Covered AlmondsWe’ve got an exciting new low carb snack to tell you about today - Russell Stover Net Carb Chocolate Covered Almonds. We’ve really been looking forward to trying some of the Net Carb line of products from Russell Stover, and it was definitely worth the wait. The candies are delicious. For those who are chocolate covered peanut fans you will immediately notice two things about these candies. Firstly, they have a very pleasant soft texture in your hand and in your mouth. Some chocolate covered nuts have a very hard and rough feel and these chocolate covered almonds do not suffer from this. Secondly, the almonds are a slightly different, but tasty, option for introducing something very healthy into a candy. The chocolate covering has a subdued dark chocolate flavor, and the almonds are fresh and crisp without being too hard.

Each serving consists of about 15 pieces of candy, though during the review we never felt the urge to eat nearly that many. There are 220 calories per serving, along with 18 grams of fat. Thankfully, none of the fats are trans fats, but there are 5 grams of saturated fat. You’ll also get around 5mg of cholesterol and 25mg of sodium per serving. Each serving contains contains about 7 grams of digestible carbohydrate and 6 grams of protein. The packaging provides a list of food allergy warnings that those with food allergies should be aware of. These chocolate covered almonds are sweetened with Splenda and a healthy dose of sugar alcohols, so limit consumption to the recommended serving size or less.

Archer Farms Diet Orange Cream Soda

Low Carb Drinks, Sugar Free Drinks

Archer Farms Diet Orange Cream SodaYou’ve probably gathered by now that we’re frequent shoppers at Target here at glucoholic.com. Periodically we’ll take a look at the in-house Archer Farms brand products to see if there are any new sugar free options available. While picking up some of our favorite sugar free beverage, we came across Archer Farms Diet Orange Cream Soda. A quick look at the nutrition label and we were on our way to the checkout line, and to a very pleasant experience.

Archer Farms Diet Orange Cream Soda really brings it. Some cream sodas have a texture and taste that evoke thoughts of drinking olive oil. This sugar free drink does not suffer from this problem. The cream flavor is a very good match to the refreshing orange taste and yields an aftertaste almost like candy. This drink is not overly carbonated either, which adds to its thick, rich taste. We give this drink two thumbs up!
