Battle of the Tava Zero Calorie Sparkling Beverages

Tava Zero Calorie Sparkling BeverageContinuing our short break from sugar free snacks reviews, we’d like to introduce Tava Zero Calorie Sparkling Beverage. The folks at Pepsi have created three interesting flavors that we immediately marched into battle against each other; with you, our loyal readers, coming out the victors.

Tava Zero Calorie Sparkling Beverage has received some recent press because of Pepsi’s decision to market the product in a non-conventional way to a non-conventional soft drink demographic. Hubspot’s Inbound Internet Marketing Blog and The New York Times explain how Pepsi’s advertising consultants helped them craft a plan to market the product using new media instead of traditional outlets. The 35 to 49 year olds in the product’s target demographic are currently underserved by new media and might just prove to be a real win for Pepsi.

Each of the three flavors have exactly the same nutrition information, making for an easy heads up battle based on taste alone. Each twelve ounce serving contains no caffeine and no calories. Tava Zero Calorie Sparkling Beverage is sweetened with aspartame and acesulfame potassium, and some flavor comes from 55mg of sodium. We must say that this is one of the better tasting drinks we’ve reviewed using aspartame for sweetener, so don’t let that scare you away. Each serving also contains fifteen percent of the recommended daily value of Vitamin E, Niacin, Vitamin B6, and Chromium.

First Place: Mediterranean Fiesta Black Cherry Citrus

We’ll admit it – we like black cherry flavored drinks here at glucoholic.com. We tried this one first and were amazed at how original the blend of flavors tasted. We were really looking for something different, and we found it. If you are a fan of black cherry beverages that are not over-carbonated then we highly recommend giving this one a try.

Second Place: Tahitian Tamure Tropical Berry Blend

This flavor was almost as good as our winner. A somewhat more familiar berry mix provided a pleasant experience. This one might have stayed in the battle for the championship a few more rounds, but there was the tiniest cough medicine aftertaste.

Third Place: Brazilian Samba Passion Fruit Lime

We were surprised at the way the passion fruit flavor overwhelmed this one. The other two competitors seemed to really strive to marry the flavors and were successful. If you’re a passion fruit fan then this one is definitely worth a try. If not, we’ll let you in on a little secret. In our testing we mixed in a little Sierra Mist Free and it seemed to diminish the taste of the passion fruit just enough to put it on par with the others.
