South Beach Diet Peanut Butter Cookies

South Beach Diet Peanut Butter CookiesLet’s get the warnings out of the way first. These cookies are not a low calorie food source. Excess consumption may have a laxative effect. Keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times … Seriously, you might be saying “Hey The Glucoholic, how do you have time to do all these reviews when you spend so much time in the restroom?” Not to worry, The Glucoholic is pretty sure at this point that if you stick to the posted serving sizes you should be just fine.

Opening the pack of two (the suggested serving size) there is the distinct aroma of peanut butter. The pleasure of that is quickly checked as you realize that the texture of the cookie is more like a ginger snap baked with oatmeal than the soft, chewy peanut butter cookie your mom used to make. Applying enough bite force to break off a piece does provide you with a good workout, followed by the reward of tasting significant peanut butter flavor. The cookie has adequate sweetness, and is surprisingly filling.

Battle of the Super Target Market Pantry Brand Flavored Water Beverages

Battle of the Super Target Market Pantry Brand Flavored Water BeveragesWhew! That title almost did The Glucoholic in. Folks I’m really excited about this review. Not only does it kick off our “Battle Of” series, but it praises three pretty special little drinks. To anthropologists Super Target comes right after fire and the wheel. Super Target’s Market Pantry brand is one of the best store brands out there today, and thankfully their buyers chose to add water beverages to that lineup. Ironically, don’t bother looking at the Target website if you want to find out about any of the Market Pantry products. If anyone from Target happens to be a reader, pass the word that lots of consumers like to preshop before hitting the stores.

The three drinks we’ll be reviewing are cherry limeade, kiwi strawberry, and lemonade. Before we go any further let The Glucoholic say that all three were worthy of the title, and that it was a pleasure to review them. All three are almost identical nutritionally so a contest on taste alone is certainly warranted. Each bottle comes with almost seventeen fluid ounces of water beverage, and there are four bottles to a pack. Each bottle contains 70mg of sodium and practically nothing else. The kiwi strawberry flavor contains malic acid and the other two contain citric acid. All three are flavored with sucralose and acesulfame potassium.

Sugar Free Oreos

Sugar Free OreosBoy does The Glucoholic wish he could find one tasty snack that said “Sugar Alcohol Free” on the label! Let’s just start by saying that Sugar Free Oreos taste great. Though they are smaller than the original Oreo, they still provide that unmistakable vanilla cream-filled chocolate wafer taste we all know and love.

Serving size is two cookies, and for that you will get 100 calories, 5 grams of fat – of which 0 grams are trans fats, 0 grams of cholesterol, 110mg of sodium, 0 grams of sugar, 3 grams of fiber, 16 grams of carbohydrate, and 2 grams of protein. These cookies are sweetened with sucralose, which helps explain the excellent taste, but the package contains the following warning: Excess consumption may have a laxative effect. Not again! As with the Reese’s Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures, the packaging for Sugar Free Oreos plainly states that these cookies are not a reduced calorie food, so dieters beware.

Atkins Advantage Chocolate Royale Shake

Atkins Advantage Chocolate Royale ShakeIf you’re like The Glucoholic you’re always on the run, and sometimes you have a tendency to skip meals. Meal replacement shakes have become quite popular for filling the nutritional gap. There are tons of these on the market, with many being offered by diet and nutritional name brands. The Atkins Advantage Chocolate Royale Shake is a clear winner in this category.

Now before you become concerned that The Glucoholic is going to turn this website into an Atkins Diet fanboy site let him say that The Glucoholic does not endorse any particular diet program or methodology and that reporting about these kinds of products will always be opinionated and based entirely on how good they taste compared to how much sugar they put in. In the case of the Atkins Advantage Chocolate Royale Shake this ratio is quite acceptable.
